Mountain Biking - Situation, need advice

I bought a new bike a couple of weeks ago, today I was about to take the chain off, clean it and re-grease it. However I grab it and try to pop it off, (it was supposed to be a SRAM PC-951 w/ power link) it doesn't budge so I look down and I have a Shimano CN-HG53 instead. OK, I know this is a quality chain, either chain will work fine I understand that, but I still want to have the convenience of the SRAM chain. Do you guys think I will have any problem getting the correct chain from the LBS I purchased the bike from?

You could just get a SRAM powerlink. I have used them on Shimano chains quite a few times in the past without any problems.

Good to know for reference. I am thinking my best bet is to just call up there and let them know, they would probably swap it out, no big deal.

Either option is possible, but #2 is more probable. Most websites state that specs may vary slightly.between the website and the actual product.

Since it's a nine speed chain a SRAM Power Link would work on it. (The 8 speed Shimano is incompatible with the 8 speed SRAM Power Link)

The LBS offered to order the correct chain (by correct I mean what is listed on the spec sheet for my bike) which is SRAM PC-951 or they have an SRAM PC-59 in stock that he would put on there, no charge of course. Would either one of these chains be better than the other one, if so which one should I tell them I would like to be put on the bike?

The PC-950 is the same as the PC 59. They rearranged the numbers last year, but it's the same thing. I use the PC-59 / 950 on both of my bikes and I've never had an issue with it. I'd reccommend it in a heartbeat. It's my "go to" chain

Are you planning to evacuate ahead of this storm coming your way?If it keeps on it's predicted course we'll stay put as we'd be well clear of the projected "centerline" path, but this thing's just acting all sorts of goofy. It slowed it's forward progress AGAIN.

If it does finally turn towards us we'll likely bug out. I just hope it's not like last year with Ivan. We bailed out of St. Pete and went to a small border town in Southern Georgia. It just so happens that this is just about where Ivan actually hit. As soon as it was past Tampa Bay we drove back down.
