i think so...I'd heard them on The World Cafe (radio show) and like the stuff from Plans. not sure that I'll buy the album, but liked what I heard.

Rubbish band. Every girl I've ever dated had an obsession with them.

And Ziggurat, one of the guys from the Postal Service is in Death Cab.

P.S. I got Unfun on vinyl finally. Great score, too.

I saw that

I still owe you some vinyl though--Born Against is one thing I'm betting you might be interested in (rebel sound of... LP) and I've also got an Underdog LP (Richie's band before he started Into Another).

PM me your addy and I'll send 'em--you don't have that Born Against yet, do you?

I've got that Born Against record. I've got all of them except Nine Patriotic Hymns for Children and the split 8" with Man is the Bastard. I'm missing some of the more uber-obscure Born Against stuff (ie, spoken word, bootlegged 7"s, etc), but I'm not too worried about any of that.

Either way, you don't "owe" me anything. What's Underdog like, though? I'm not familiar with Into Another, either, but they're sort of Youth Crew meets Post-Hardcoreish, right? I'll try to find some Underdog stuff on SoulSeek and see what I think; if I like it I'll shoot you some cash for the LP.

This looks like a hijacked thread if I ever saw one.

People collect Jawbreaker stuff? I have the Unfun album on coloured vinyl, what can I get for it?

Oh yeah, Underdog, from what I remember, had a sort of metal/groove thing going on. I could be wrong though.

yeah--and Richie has melodic vocals. Into Another was more metal/melodic than Underdog, but Underdog was too.

Probably the most commonly collected Pop-Punk band of all time. I've got everything but the two 7"s (Whack and Blight 7", Busy 7"), and bootlegged 7"s. And, of course, the Live LP. I'm not a nerd about getting first presses and such, so I'm fine having a second-press of Unfun, and the repressed version of Dear You, and so on.

And yeah, Unfun on colour could fetch you a cool two-hundred dollars or something. Depends on the colour and pressing.

Whoah! Seriously?, it's on a sort of clear green vinyl if I remember right. I also have that Whack and Blite ep and a split with Jawbox. Should I plan my retirement?

I'm just going through popsike.com ...I'm shocked!

Sure it's not on blue vinyl? If it's on blue (800 copies), the last one up went for $87.00, which is exceptionally low. There's one up right now with a starting price of $75. I've seen it go for quite a bit ($180 - $250), which is why I made the $200 estimation...but that might've been for the clear version (limited to 200 copies). To my knowledge (and from information from the plant and label), there were no pressings on opaque green.

The Jawbox split probably isn't worth much, and the Whack and Blight 7" may or may not be. If the Whack and Blight you have is on Blackball records, it could be worth an okay amount, but if it's on Very Small records, it's probably not worth much. Tell me the colour and/or label, and I can give you an approximate amount. Either way, you should definitely sell/trade it to me.

Do you, by chance, have any CaP'n Jazz records? Probably a longshot, but I'm trying to finish my collection of theirs as well.

'fraid not.

The Jawbreaker one is clear vinyl, it has a sort of green tinge to it. I'm checking all the stuff I can remember on that popsike site.
$200 for the first Offspring, $60 for an ep. Green Day stuff and Crimpshrine stuff seems to be pretty valuable too.

I'm going to have to seriously consider selling this stuff :(

Ah, Coke Bottle Clear. In that case, yeah, it's worth a substantial amount.

People on Popsike pay entirely too much for records. Lame rich Indie kids with daddy's credit card.

I'll say, $150 for the SSD bootleg?!
$375- for a poxy Green Day ep!
I'm hitting 4 figures now, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I'd say cry. As hard-to-find as some records can be, I think it's important to keep even the most limited accessible. That's why I refuse to sell on EBay...I just stick to vivalavinyl.org. Awesome message board, too.

Errr.....regarding the original topic, I'm very lukewarm on Death Cab. Some stuff I really like, some stuff I ******** can't stand. It really starts bugging me when he starts getting all whiny and emo and crap. All told, I think Postal Service yielded much better music.

Hah, I post on his other board sometimes.

Didn't some guy from DCFC cover a Richard Buckner song? Boy did that suck.

Death Cab for a Cutie's latest album is pretty good. I've never followed or heard them till I heard their latest music video on launch. I have to put it up there with one of the few artists who have a whole album that I can stand listening to.

imho, Plans is a pile of rubbish. Compared to their earlier albums (especially We Have the Facts, Transatlanticism, and The Photo Album), Plans is weak lyrically and musically. they're replaced guitars with plinky keyboards, and (relatively) sincere vocals about relationships with meaningless songs about death. Do yourself a favor and toss Plans and pick up We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes.

Gee, Phaedrus, tell us how you really feel about them! ha ha!

Slightly off topic, but Dntel - This Is The Dream of Evan and Chan has the vocalist from death cab, and he sings fantastically is it. Great track.

I actually like some of their stuff. My girlfriend says the guy sounds like he's trying too hard to be like Doug Martsch, which I can sorta see.

A lot of girls I know really like Death Cab, but I just can't get into it. I like some random songs a little, but by and large I find it really depressing to listen to. My friend has given me a bunch of her music to try and , while I can't get into Death Cab at all, I do like the Postal Service- which has one of the guys from Death Cab.

Another band I did like was The Shins. They're also not really like the music I listen to, but they sound pretty good.

Dntel is great music producer. That album is wonderful. Many guests vocals. I like a few songs from Death Cab for Cutie. It seems their songs have no bite.

Any Grandaddy fans here?
