General Cycling Discussion - Just saw the movie "Transporter"...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The first, not the second.
That one fight scene is awesome! For those of you who have NOT watched it:
The main character is beset by about a dozen bad guys in a bus depot. He tips over a couple of vats of used motor oil, now no one can stand. He manages to slide over to a bike (conveniently parked nearby, I guess some of the mechanics must ride to work and walk home)... snaps off the metal toe cages, and cinches 'em onto his feet. Now he's got traction :D. So he proceeds to kick everyone's butt.
That gets my award for "Most creative use of a bike accessory in a movie."

I felt a little cheated by that scene! If you've got quill pedals on your feet strapped in tight... and you do roundhouse kicks to the bad-guys' faces, you'd see an awful lot of blood... and those guys wouldn't be getting back up to slip-and-slide in the oil-bath...
Great car-chase scenes though. Ranks up there with Ronin!
It wasn't really grease or oil, it was chocolate.

Good film, but most films with Jason Statham are pretty cool.
The scene with him knocking on the front door is my favourite :D

The first Transporter was way cool.
The second one sucked, save your money.

Sorry slvoid I was kinda trying to go for the "talk about bike stuff in movies" angle but that's not where the topic went.
One more for the unrealistic side, I think it was supposed to be that he jumped really hard and actually snapped off the pedals, not just the toe cages. If pedals really snapped off that easy we'd all be talking in really high voices...

Besides how easily the pedals broke, think about walking on a slick concrete floor with pedals attached to your feet. Who would be doing the most slipping and sliding.
Other than that, it was a great action scene.
