I am about to replace my rear rim which didn't survive a flat at 45mph. Is there any problem reusing the same spokes & nipples?
I'm replacing the rim with the identical make/model (Mavic MA320), the spokes are DT Swiss Alpine 3 and the wheel was only 1000 miles old when it happened.

I've re-used spokes on quite a few wheels I've built. No problems if they have low miles. Simple way is to just tape the new rim right next to the old one. Make sure the left & right holes are lined up to the originals. Then just loosen the nipples one at a time with an electric screwdriver, toss the old nipple, transfer the spoke over to the new rim, install nipple a couple of tuns, repeat for all spokes and that's it. Untape the old rim from the new and go around it in a couple of passes with the screwdriver and slowly tension up the wheel evenly. True, and you're done. :)
They're quality spokes, and not cheap. I'd say that they should be ok to reuse, as long as they were built right the first time. If they haven't been too stressed, go for it. If it were my wheel, I'd use new nipples.

Thanks guys, I didn't think to use new nipples but I will. Great tip there Danno, taping one to the other and transfew the spokes as you go, that should make it a straightforward job.

Ditto the advice above. I tried to use old nipples once. The inner threads would always strip out right when the wheel got to tension.

I might have to do this soon. My beautiful MTB wheels have developed a miror polished braking surface. I don't trust my building skills to replace the rims myself.

replacing spokes is controversial. I have reused some, never seen a problem. But like others said, get new nipples
