Bicycle Mechanics - Tektro discs. Suggestions please.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Ok, this question is for mechanics that have dealt with Tektro mechanical discs. General advice won't cut it, as we've tried swapping pads and rotors already. This is a 1 week old bike that developed a severe squeal when the brakes are applied. I'd chalk it up to cheap brakes, and try to get the customer to ride for another week or two to properly bed the brakes, but it's just not happening. The bike was purchased as a gift, and the kid doesn't want to ride it because of the noise. Surely other mechanics have had to deal with these sad stoppers. Suggestions appreciated.

Different pads and rotors and it still squeals? Is the rotor touching the caliper body when the brake is engaged and it flexes? Depending on the bike maker you might also be able to swap the whole thing for one that works, like the cheap hayes mechanical. You could also try sending the biggest guy down the biggest hill, repeatedly braking hardusing only the front or rear to bed them in real good.
