Does anyone know if there is any differece between the MCM and XTC carbon frames?

The MCM is the older version of the XTC frame. If there are any other differences, which there probably are, I am not sure what they are. I would say drop Giant an email and ask 'em if no one here knows.

I thought MCM is the old version too, but I just saw a few MCM frames on ebay claimed to be 2005. That's interesting.

As far as I know and what the guys at Giant told me when they gave me mine was that the MCM was last made as a 2000/01 frame. Sounds like the guy does not know what he is talking about.

A seller on eBay being sketchy or deceptive about the facts? Say it isn't so! :roflmao:
Caveat Emptor :D

These are the frames for sale: 1st (http://cgi.ebay.ca/05-06-Model-GIANT-MCM-TEAM-Carbon-Frame-nrs-xtc_W0QQitemZ7190221290QQcategoryZ22679QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and 2nd (http://cgi.ebay.ca/05-Giant-MCM-carbon-frameset-MEDIUM-19-WHITE-label_W0QQitemZ7191349613QQcategoryZ98083QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem).

Well you never know what you can find on ebay :D... They look new to me, but from which year? who knows...

They are also "team" frames but I wonder why I've never seen (or heard) Adam Craig racing one of those.

This is the 2006 XTC Composite frame. What they're selling isn't

That plus the fact that Giant is spec'ing the complete build f this bike with Manipoo (not RockShox as indicated by sponsor sticker in #1) Also thie Time logo on that same sticker hasn't been used in the last few years either

Nope. The bad stuff is well south of us. It would be too late anyway as the eye is going to be onshore within the hour. All we're getting is some rain and some tropical storm force winds. It's much less than sustained Hurricane force winds. It's basically one of our regular summer storms only sustained for several hours.
We're on the fringes of the storm. Right now my main concern is a spin up tornado. :D

Woah that frame is very nice looking. I wonder how much for one of those?

I just did a quick check since you posted the auctions. Giant was making an MCM for the Tiwan market in '05. When I saw the auctions I noticed the sellers are in Tiwan and Hong Kong. So they could be '05 MCMs. If they are then 700 and something USD is not to bad of a price.

If the sellers were US based I would say they are wacked :D

I didn't look on that sticker, very good observation.

dirtbikedude:
Oh, so they still make them. Thanks for checking that.

By the time, I compared the geometry of the MCM to XTC (which I should have done in the first place). They are very different. For example, the 21" MCM is smaller than even the 19" XTC except the seat tube and the head tube.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Giant MCM? I just bought a 2005 model from Taiwan but I've read the XTC composite frame is superior to the MCM... Should I get the XTC instead?

When I posted this thread I did some research but I couldn't find much information. All I could find was that the composite technology of the MCM (http://www.giant-bicycle.com/bf/050.000.000/050.050.000.asp) is older than the technology used for building the XTC (http://www.giant-bicycle.com/us/050.000.000/050.150.000.asp). Also as I said above, the geometry of the frames are different. MCM has a shorter top tube compared to the same size XTC.
