I saw this in my ezine from www.roadbikerider.com and thought it was neat for all cycist: 1. NEWS FROM ED & FRED
Watching the Tour of Spain (Vuelta) on OLN reminds us of how
we often think that pros are in another world -- so much
better than we are that there's no way to identify with them.
Then we came across a quote on super-sprinter Mario
Cipollini's website. Cipo, as you may recall, "retired" from
cycling in July after winning six stages of the Giro
d'Italia. But then he "unretired" in time for the Vuelta and
the world road championship next month.
Here's what the Lion King said about his return:
"I rediscovered my desire to ride, and the pleasure of
working on the bike for a big objective. When I started to
race, I was told, 'The bicycle has a soul. If you succeed to
love it, it will give you emotions that you will never forget.'
I was young then and I did not understand what those
words meant, but in time I did."
The bicycle has a soul. Now there's an emotion that lots of
us can identify with. It doesn't matter if we're the world's
fastest sprinter or just regular roadies who love to ride simply
for the pleasure it adds to our lives.
