Mountain Biking - Took the plunge - ordered a head light

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hopefully for now it will let me play around in the dusk. I may end up getting a light for the handlebar, but speaking with people in town, most have a 10w head and a 10w handlebar. Since for now I plan to mostly try to extend my riding into dusk I can still ride with a little light :)

Thanks to slvoid's thread in commuting about lights, and the mtbreview review of various lights, I was able to look at real data and real pics. For the price, I don't think I could see one that could beat the solo logic MV. There were hologens that beat it for clarity, but the $$$ through me off. No mention of hids, I don't see myself being that into night riding, for me it is strictly to extend my season a month in either direction (spring and fall) it isn't a full time thing. Thanks to all the helped. I may still try to make my own light, but in the small town I live parts would have been difficult to come by and I really don't have time to wait :)

I think I was looking at the same light at bikeroom.....still thinking about it.( I think it's teh same, solo 05?)

Anyway, that sounds like a great light! Give us a review on how it is!

So far I'm happy with my Solo Logic, and there are some differences between the Solo and the Solo Logic.

For your information PCS2, Bikeroom has both, the Solo is $166 and the Solo Logic is $224.

Ah, now I see the two (solo/logic). Still not sure which one i'm going to get, but I need it soon. So, never, why did you go with the logic over the solo?

Main reasons were: the Logic has a turbo charger (full charge in 4hrs vs 14 with the Solo); variable light output 6, 10, 13W versus only 13W; and adjustable beam (vs non-adjustable on the Solo).

I ended up getting it for the variable 'type' of light. I doubt I will spend much time adjusting the wattage

And I did buy it from bikeroom, my first attempt to get them to redeem themselves for the past poor deliveries :)

I always have mine on full when I'm on the trails but if I go to a more distant trail, I dim the light for the ride there, just to get a little more light life. If I used this light for commuting, I'd definitely use the lower outputs, but I don't as I just have simple LED lights for commuting.
