Foo - Any ham radio/SWL/Scanner people here?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Yep. My interest is mostly QRP HF CW.

I have a friend in Georgia who frequents a forum where a member posts the scanner. This friend then copies the post and pastes it to me.
Every once in awhile he explains to me what some of the codes mean. Otherwise it's just jibberish to me.

Yep - only CW (Morse Code), no SSB or phone - mostly contesting and operating mobile from car, but got back into cycling this year - not much time for radio…

QRP CW on HF once I get my K2 built.
I have a couple of VX-150s I use to listen to the main police dispatch freq for this area, it's entertaining to listen to them talk about their jobs lol!
I still listen to the scanner on occasion but mainly have gotten away from radio. Seems like once the internet and cellphones became widespread, the appeal of amateur radio was lost for me. Maybe i will pick it up again some day.
Don't own a single rig but for my lowly ol' scanner. I guess cycling takes all of my fun money.

Thanks for the link to that thread, Ranger. Looks like there are quite a few of us.
I was first licensed in 1955 as a novice (KN4DRD). Hard to believe it's been fifty years.

The only equipment I have is a Yaesu VX-7R.
Up until now, I used it for Scout outings. My troop tends to get spread out on hikes and bike rides and it's useful to keep in touch!
I just joined the Police Department's Communication Specialist Volunteers here in town, so I'm looking forward to my first disaster drill tomorrow.

Licensed since 1982 but unable to operate due to current antenna restrictions.
Still listen to scanner and quite a bit of SWL via various online radios. Neat stuff.

Oh yeah, quite a few poking around here. :) I play on all bands now and again 160 through 432, most recently DXing the MW BCB and some LW looking for NDB's. 2 1/2 more weeks of disability (hit by car in August), then it's back to work and the radio gets a vacation. Until then, it's CQ DX !
Equip: R1000, TS830s, FT221R, R71a, FT767gx, FT736R, FL2100b, building 2 x 4cx250b on 2ssb! Beams on the roof, tree's tied together with wire!
