Bicycle Mechanics - "szhooom" noise from below

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Recently I've noticed a noise that I can only desribe as "zshooom" coming from around the crank arms/bottom bracket area. It only occurs when I am pedaling in a low cadence and dissapears with a shift. This is a new noise and I can't figure out its cause. Please help!
Sounds like your chain is rubbing on your front derailure.
You can either try to adjust the derailure or don't ride with that combination of front/back sprockets.
A bone dry chain can make a very similar noise, see the post on lubricants, especially teflon 'dry' types.
