Two months post PVA heart ablation today. (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=68479)

Yeah! Total Normal Sinus Heart Rhythm.

Did 24 mile bicycle ride yesterday. I challenged some hills to a contest and I won!

Did a weight lifting exercise yesterday, 5 times three reps. I could only do 1 time (period) 3 months ago.

Life is good.

Had to look up that word.

What great news! Sounds like you've recovered nicely.
No question to anyone on this forum that it was the bicycle that performed
the miracle.

I think the surgeon had a little bit to do with it! :D :D

Wow. Congratulations.

I've been reading about your heart issues for a long while, and the whole anxiety surrounding them is probably as bad as the original symptoms. You must feel wonderful to get past all of that.

have a great ride today.

Life may be Good, but it can only get better. Remember though, you now have to build up slowly. Pointless doing a 50 miler tomorrow, with massive hills, only to be off the bike with a pulled muscle. Take it steady and then some of us might be able to keep up with your re-training programme.

Glad to see your back

That's great. Being limited to sitting around doesn't feel good.

Super Fox! That's great to hear. It must be an amazing feeling after so much time dealing with it, and finally defeating it!

Glad to see you are still around! Thought for a bit there you had faded away into one of your races, never to be heard from again.

Thanks for the notes, everyone.

I am glad I was bicycling 150 miles per week BEFORE the ablation. It has made thing easier in recovery.

That's very good news DnvrFox. I guess you will know if you are overdoing it, my only thought is that you have time and you don't need to be at the top of your game in any particular rush. Glad to have you back around.

Why'd you decide to go for the ablation? The reason I ask is that I've been in atrial fib for about 15 years, on warfarin since the beginning, and my cardiologist (who's a progressive and exercise-oriented guy, an ultradistance runner and cyclist) has discouraged it. Might be because I have almost no symptoms, and the blood thinner hasn't caused me any problems other than occasional bruises, but he's recommended waiting awhile, and maybe never doing it at all (I'm 60, so it's not like we have to look 50 years down the road). I tolerate exercise well, haven't changed my lifestyle except to try not to fall off the bike, and if I didn't know I were in fib, I'd probably be unaware of it. Anyway, if you get a chance, you can answer here or e-mail me offline, hevydrop@aol.com.
Thanks

I have noticed decreased performance when taking the various drugs including warfarin. I have forgotten my drugs in the morning and notice that my speed is higher, and I have less ache in my legs when I don't take my drugs. BTW I do not skip them intentionally... so don't warn me about it, but I have missed them a couple times and the difference is dramatic.

That alone is incentive to find other "cures" than the drug mix.

DnvrFox,

Great to hear you are on the road back. Attitude and effort play a big role in recovery.
You seem to excel in this.
