No, I don't mean taking it to dinner and a movie, I mean determining how old it is!

Looking at a bike on EBay. It has a plastic guard between the freewheel and spokes (there must be a name for this thing, but I don't know what it is), plus what looks like a vinyl covered seat. 70's or 80's?

Dug up a rusty old piece of a bike in an old dump at my parents' house. The front cog looks like it has a single tooth for every two chain links. What vintage would this be? House is CA 1870.

Skip tooth sprockets were last used around 1953---but most likely your part is older---sam
