This American Life is always interesting, since it's different every week.

Whad'Ya Know? I love that show... I was actually on the quiz the time I went to see it live at Monona Terrace back in 1998. Went Five-for-Five! Got really cheesy prizes (A WYK t-shirt, a book about lives of virgin saints, and a board game that is still in its shrink wrap). I was able to get a copy of the show and it's a total trip.

Car Talk is always fun. ATC and Morning Edition are part of my commute every day, as is Fresh Air. It's amazing what you can learn when people take the time to just communicate for more than 30 seconds.

The one show that absolutely needs to go away is Wait Wait Don't Tell Me.... That show is HORRIBLE!!! The same smarmy people trying way too hard to make dull jokes for an hour. And it makes WYK be tape delayed by an hour here in Chicago.

Oh yeah.... Marketplace is pretty entertaining for a show about business.... For someone who goes blind looking at the business section of the paper, Marketplace is a pretty lightweight way for outsiders to learn a bit about how the markets affect day to day life.

I listen to NPR classical occassionally but can't stand their drolling monotonous talk.

I'd love it if Car Talk and Prairie Home Companion were rebroadcast during the week, when I actually have time to listen.

Love TAL. Went to see the show when it was here in Washington, DC. Also, I totally love Gunsmoke on the Big Broadcast.

Disagree with you about Wait, Wait. Can see how you would find it annoying, but I still like it anyway. Some of the segments are consistently creative, like Not My Job. I am rather ambivalent towards WYK. Like if I miss it I don't really care, but I usually enjoy listening to it. BUt if I miss TAL, WW, or Gunsmoke, I am disappointed.

Best NPR moment: when Carl Kassle called the West Nile Virus, the West Vile Nirus. Funniest thing I have ever heard, just about.

Fresh Air! Morning Edition and ATC have been a part of my commute for 20+ years, but I really look forward to Terry Gross. She is by far the best interviewer on the air today. Her secret is that she realizes that people aren't listening to hear HER. We want to hear the guest...that is, as long as it is not that whack-nut from Kiss.

My least favorite is Diane Rehm. Her show is too "inside the beltway" for me.

Yeah, but that Gene Simmons interview was GOLD for Terry! She got tons of press looking like the good person in the face of Simmons' boorish behavior (i.e., his usual self). They even reprinted that interview in her book All I Did Was Ask : Conversations with Writers, Actors, Musicians, and Artists . That was huge for her!

This American Life is the best radio on radio.

The various news programs are unrivalled.

World Cafe has introduced me to some great music.

Sci Fri....'nuff said.

I, too, have attended Whadd'ya Know? I didn't win any prizes, but Michael Feldman did interview me on the air.

Sometimes Wait, Wait makes me laugh out loud. I mean, milk-out-your-nose hilarity.

I love Will Short the puzzle guy on the weekend.

Terry Gross rawks.

Can't stand the ambient music show...I can't even tell you the name because the radio goes off as soon as that show comes on. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Splendid Table is good too, it comes on Sunday evening here, after my long ride when I'm hungry, go figure!

I also heard the Bill O'Liely interview on Fresh Aire, love to see a bully taken out by a smart woman..GO GIRL Then he had the nerve to rant on his show for a week about how mistreated he was, wacko!

Seems like the only time I get to listen to NPR, they're doing "All things considered".. So I guess I'll chose that. I've only seen Click and Clack on their website.

Funny, I can listen to NPR at work here on internet radio so I can listen to the NPR in Lake Tahoe, CA or the one in NYC... Weird when I'm by NYC and can hear the weather for Lake Tahoe..

This American Life is just about the best radio out there.

For me, it's a toss-up between Car Talk and Wait Wait. KXJZ plays them back-to-back on Sunday mornings so it's 2 straight hours of really bad jokes and a little bit of information.

Also, I listen to Morning Becomes Eclectic on kcrw.org every morning. I started listening when my wife was visiting USC for a semester and I decided that not everything about LA sucks.

I forgot to mention A Prairie Home Companion. It's been a real educational resource about my wife's family (upper Midwest Norwegian Lutherans). As it turns out, they really do eat hotdishes and argue about the proper way to eat lefse.

I like Morning Edition, Talk of the Nation (especially Science Friday), Fresh Air with Terry Gross, and Car Talk. Also, NPR here carries The News Hour audio at 3:00 PT, three hours earlier than PBS television here.

The above link has a couple options for playing the show at other than broadcast times. PHC may have similar funtionality.

I'd go with morning edition, all things considered, car talk, sound money (though old host was better than new guy).

This American Life is the best.

On the Media and American Routes are also favorites I catch every week.

In addition, I dig Cartalk (getting a little old tho), Le Show and Praire Home Companion.

This American Life, followed by Studio 360, On the Media, Fresh Air, and Talk of the Nation.

I listen to Public Radio way too much. Some days I start with Morning Edition and stick with them until bedtime (local station switches to BBC World Service, also excellent, at 10PM). I'll join the chorus of This American Life fans. Best radio show ever? My other "never miss" is American Routes, which is especially poignant lately.

The only show I always avoid is Splendid Table, because it always makes me hungry. :(

I hope it's not excessively nit-picky to point out that many of the shows are actually not NPR, but MPR (Minnesota Public Radio) or PRI (Public Radio International -- or as Michael Feldman calls them, the "International House of Radio). ;)

This American Life, followed by Fresh Air. I really really really like Terry Gross.

My dad listens to car talk whenever its on, After 10 or so minutes i get tired of it. Fresh air and all things considered are not bad at all,
Understand though I do not listen to the radio just by myself, the only time i listen to a radio is if I am around somebody else who is.

This American Life is my favorite. I donated to public radio so I could get the CD with "Squirrel Cop." And Fresh Air is the one I sometimes miss yoga class, so I can listen to it.

I've started listening to On Point over the past few weeks and sometimes Performance Today when it works into my schedule.
