Bicycle Mechanics - Fork compatability w/ bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How much travel did your original fork have? If the X-Fly(80mm) has more or less travel than your old fork(I'd think it would have the same or more), then you might notice some issues with the geometry of the bike(handling or the way your weight is positioned on the bike), although I would think it would be minimul unless you have a big travel difference between the two.
One other thing that could complicate compatibility could be the steerer tube/headset diameters matching up?(I'm not an expert on this, so please correct me if this last statement is not an issue/incorrect.)
