In the 1991 Schwinn catalog, the Crosscut was the high end cross bike (followed by the Crisscross and the Crossfit).
Sorry, but I don't have the original retail price.
Attached are the 1991 Crosscut catalog page (JPG) and the specs (PDF).
Sorry about the quality of the specs; the catalog font size was very small, and if I had scanned at a higher resolution the file would have been too big to attach.
Thanks for the attachment.
$425.00 US MSL in 1990 & 1991.

The attachments seem to have gotten lost sometime over the past five years. ;)
The Schwinn catalogs are now on-line thanks to Tom Findley:

I realize this is an older thread and a current request for an updated link, but .... the CrossCut can be easily set up as a nice commuter and/or touring bike. They came with 700 x 38 tires, lugged chrome moly frame (& handlebars), and the cantilever brakes and triple chain wheel that make them a bargain (if you can find one) compared to some of the other options out there. Haven't ridden mine on anything longer than a 35 to 40 mile ride (mixed terrain), but I could see riding it longer distances without any difficulty.
