If anyone knows of any sources for 20 in., non-suspension, non-BMX forks, I would appreciate having the leads. What I am looking for would have the following specs.:

- 20 in. (for use with ETRTO 406 wheels)
- 100 mm dropout spacing for standard front hub
- prefer curved fork blades but can use thin straight blades (i.e., not the heavy, stiff tubes used for BMX forks)
- cantilever studs are not needed but acceptable
- disk brake mount is preferred but not needed
- 1 1/8 in. steerer tube
- Prefer threaded but can use threadless if need be
- any finish is OK

I am aware of the RANS aluminum fork. I might end up going with it, but I'd rather find a chromoly fork with similar dimensions and features if I can. Did RANS ever make its fork with steel? If so, how long ago and can it still be obtained?

I know that there are some carbon BMX forks available (Redline, FMF, etc.). I know nothing about carbon and am reluctant to use it in my application. I will be mounting a hub brake-equipped wheel on the fork (not a disc brake, however), and I'm not sure how carbon forks are rated for this use. Also, the carbon forks are about 2X what I am hoping to pay for this project.

Any thoughts or advice are appreciated.

If you don't find what you want, PM me & I'll **give** you a used BMX straight fork.

Do you mean like the ones on this (http://www.gaerlan.com/bikeparts/frame/forks/fork.html) page? Or, if you want to go fancier, you can try this (http://bentupcycles.com/site/itemdetails.cfm?ID=437)

On second glance, the first link only has one inch steerers. Sorry.

That Velokraft fork is amazing: I wish there were a few more photos of it. But, at $425, more photos is as close as I will get !

I am very familiar with the offerings at the Gaerlan site. He runs a great operation.

Unfortunately, so far, as best as I can tell, all the "standard" 20 in. forks have 1 in. steerers. The exception is BMX forks, which are now routinely offered in 1 1/8 in. But, unless I am missing something, BMX forks are too stiff for my application. I'd like something with a bit of flex.

Anyway, thanks for the links ....

Thanks, FarHorizon, for the kind offer.

I ended up finding a somewhat unusual 1 1/8 in. Mongoose chromoly BMX fork via an on-line auction. There were no bidders, so my cost - including shipping - was low.

There were lots of standard BMX forks available. What caught my eye in this case is that the blades do have a slight curve to them. It's a new fork and the curve is intentional, most likely for aesthetic reasons (and not due to accident damage!). I doubt that the curve will lend much flex to the fork, which is what I am aiming for, but we'll see.

Thanks again.
