Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

A 180, tap, another 180? Isn't that a MTB trick? :D
no, i was trying to tell you which way you would whip your back to do a 180
I'm getting the Evolver with a Primo lever from one of my daughter's friends. No jumping until the hole in my arm heals. :(

What type of primo lever, and what did you do to your arm.
The lever is black, I don't know the model.
I didn't do anything to my arm - the doctor did. They stuck a biopsy needle into it and took out a chunk of flesh to send out to the lab, then stitched the hole back up. Aren't you glad you asked?

The only type of lever that Primo currently has on the market (and the only one that theyve ever sold, to the best of my knowledge), is the J-Lever.
That may be it. It's hinged and black. They're AU$60, and the brake is $AU80. I'm getting the pair for AU$40.

Ok, on the one hand, I suppose I should be impressed by the tight tolerances on the Evolver. But the left side arm fits way too tight, and is binding on the post. I guess I need to do a bit of light sanding. I'm not too impressed that I need a whole tool kit to set them up either. You need a single allen key to set up V brakes. It takes 4 different box wrenches and 2 allen keys to install the Evolver. I think Beerman was the one that mentioned it's a big pain. I ran out of daylight, so I'll finish it up tomorrow.

Did you grease the posts? I doubt that they'd need sanding.
Yeah, I greased them, and it scraped the grease right off. Even the directions state it may need a bit of sanding.

i rode with evolvers last week. they took 10 minutes to set up.
Would have taken a bit longer if they don't fit properly, don't you think? I'm likely to spend that much time just on toe-in and who knows how much on timing. Being a bit obsessive isn't a bad thing. Everything works, and I don't break stuff.
Ok, the left side post needed a bit of sanding to stop the binding. I set them up , and they're pretty ordinary. I took it to the shop I work at a few hours a week, and they agree they're pretty weak. The mechanic did mention that I did a good job setting them up for never having worked with them before.
So here's the question: Do I need to trash the gyro to get a brake that works well, or is there something else I need to do? And if I get rid of the gyro, do I need to the Odyssey Slic cable, or just a good long straight cable?

My bike is a dirt jump and uses a single cable setup. my LBS reccomened the "wethepeople" cables and told me they are very good for a single cable no gyro setup

I'd recommend an Odyssey Linear cable.
I thought so. I have a small stack of parts that came off the bike, I guess I'll be adding to it.
