I did a little shopping yesterday :) I was looking at the LeMond 2001 Zurich with Renolds 853 pro steel tubing, carbon fork and full ultegra grouppo. RoadBikeReview.com had excellent reviews on it. A 4.9/5 with 9 reviews Anyone with personal experience with Lemond bikes?

Thanks,
Bob

not personally, but i know they have a lot of fans as i've heard a lot of positives. if i were looking for high-end steel, the zurich would be among the first i would test ride.

The Lemond Zurich was one of my short list finalists for my last bike upgrade. Everyone I talked to that had one was pleased, the only negative comments regarded the paint, which you've seen in roadbikereview.com. It's a good bike for the money.

So Newtbob which of your shortlist was the winner, and why did you pick it?

The winner was a Litespeed Classic. It made the short list for frame geometry, construction quality, and all the standard reasons that people like Ti. It won when it appeared in a local bikeshop for about 30% off retail.

Several people in my club just bought the Trek 5200. We now have 5 or 6 on club rides. they all love the bike. I guess I will give that a try as well. Their is an LBS that sells them for several hundred less then list. I just need time to try them :)

I have the 99 Zurich and I LOVE IT!! Only been riding it for a few months now, so I haven't had any 'paint issues'. It's got alot of spunk, I love Ultegra. I can't say enough good things about it. OK, here's one down side - the seat - it's horrible!! Good luck!
