View Full Version : An offer I can't refuse?

My landlord and ex co-worker, has made me an offer to think over. He picked up a third or is it fourth moving violation, which means he will loose his liscense for 30 days. He can get a provisional for two years. This also means he can't drive to work. He has a cadavor knee, so biking to work won't work, nor will the bus get him close to work. So, seeing my van still sitting in the parking space behind his building he's asked if I'd be willing to drive him for a month's rent. The van still isn't running (4 months now), so I will need to get the van repaired to do this. It won't be for another month, but I'm not sure I want to drive even if it is "getting paid for it."
I am still kicking it around.

Why do you have to use your vehicle? Why make his problem a problem for you? Use his car to take him back and forth, you won't be out gas money or insurance or repair bills. You also will not be tempted to drive your van instead of ride. JMHO.

It is generous of you to consider hauling him around.

One thing that would certainly cross my mind is all the bike paraphernalia, that I don't need, but could afford.

Another thing that crosses my mind is a new bike every 2-3 months. ;)

Shoot. Do it. I'd do it if someone gave me money off my rent.

Watch out about insurance, if you drive your van or his car.

Just my response, but it looks like a hell of a lot of red flags flying around that deal. I'd pass.

I'd agree, but only if you can use his car. It's not worth fixing up your van just so you can drive someone else, imho.
