After reading different things saying that the Cateye CD300DW (wireless cadence and speed) doesnt work on tandems, I bought one and tried it anyway. I have a flight deck on the Captains bars of our Comotion Speedster, the Cateye was for the stoker. I found it to work perfectly. The only trick to the installation was to pivot the cadence sensor all the way up, this gave clearance for the stokers crankarm (Ultegra). I also pivoted the bar mount back so that it is almost vertical, this kept the computer display from being located underneath the Captains seat. So if anyone is considering a wirless computer for the stoker, this one is awesome! My wireless flight deck runs off the front wheel, and the Cateye runs off the back, it is a match mde in heaven! Also, just did a 40 mile ride and had no problems with interference between the two computers or our Polar heart rate monitors.

Now, who got the more mileage on their computer after a ride: stoker or pilot?
I set both computers to the generic 700x28c diameter listed in each owners manual. Amazingly, the computers were dead on with each other, including cadence. I have become convinced that the virtual cadence on the flight deck is accurate, since it read exactly what the cateye read, and the cateye actually counts the crank revolutions with a magnet.
The Cateye double wireless will "work" on a tandem, but only as long as the unit itself continues to function. We have been through two of them that we suffered through constant resets, battery drains and other annoyances before they finally died altogether. went back to an Astrale with a long wire and have no more headaches.

I didn't realize your 2nd Gen died too... Have Kendy & Wennth had the same problem with theirs?
The second gen Wireless was better than the first, but that meant that it lasted a year instead of a month. Resetting the communications link between the transmitter and the computer was a regular occurence that we just leasrned to live with. But then after a week of riding in the rain in Brevard the computer never really worked right and finally lost all signs of life even with fresh batteries. At least now the computer works every time we ride and I don't have to hear complaints about the numbers being too small to read.
Team Cross was having similar reset issues. Haven't heard a computer update from Kendy & Wenneth.
I've had the Cateye on my 1/2 bike for about 6 months now and it has worked fine. I've never reset the communication link and have not replaced the batteries. I must admit though, that the numbers in the display are pretty small.

Why the captain of course. Every time you make a turn the stoker cheats by cutting the corner a little bit.
I have yet to appreciate any benefit of a wireless setup on a road bike... I tried a VDO wireless computer and ended up switching to a Sigma BC1600 for the sake of simplicity. No dropped signal, no uncounted miles, no problems at all.
Wireless computers may not work as well, but at least they're more expensive :)
