Pardon my ignorance, but I notice that some BF users have a little red star beside their user names. What is that for?

"Warning - this user is a dweeb & shouldn't be taken seriously?"
"If you need a laugh, read this poster?"
"This turkey'll make you mad enough to see stars?"
"This fool gave us some MONEY!?"

Heck if I know! :p

Those are for those of us that have contributed to the cost of running the forum.

On the main BF page, where it lists all those online on the bottom, click on a red star for more infox

Contributing to the cost of running the forum....is that the same as paying for a membership? Also, my user name appears in red type. Does anyone know what that means?

It means you are "signed in" to the forum unless you have chosen to hide your "sign in" status, as I have done.

I don't know if you are nuts or not - which seems to be a different concern then the blue stars which mean "moderator" :D

Yes as it has been said,
Red Star=Contributing member
Blue Star=Moderator.

what is your name in red or black signifying?

It has been explained about 8 posts previous, but for your convenience, it means you are "signed in" unless you have chosen to hide your "signed in" status in the preferences section.
