Has anyone ever had a throbbing in their head followed by something similar to a headache but is more of a pressure than a pain?

If so do you know what causes it? It seems like if I push hard for a long time I get it, so I'm not sure if it's heartrate related or just bonking from not having enough carbs. It's not a good feeling and I feel bad the rest of the day so any info would be cool

I haven't experienced that, but I think it would be a good idea to check with a doctor if it keeps up.

I used to get that until I bought a new helmet. If I wear the old helmet I get a headache to this day. Straps must pinch off a vein - who knows. Tried another helmet?

its not really a headache.... just can't describe in a better way. and it has only happened on about 3 rides total.

I think it's when I over do it for a ong time and my heartrate gets up higher than it should/i'm used to for an extended period of time.

I think you guys helped me answer my own question, thanks :)

but the dr. visit will happen if it continues... i didn't even think of that!

What about dehydration? How much do you drink during the day, and while on the bike?

I don't drink a lot during the day.. not the 8 glasses but I don't feel lke I'm constantly dehydrated either.

during the last ride that it happened I had 2 bottles which is just slightly less than 2 quarts of water in a 1:30 hr time frame

I think it's probably a combination of pushing too hard, dehydration, not enough nutriants, being a little out of shape... all of it together just makes for a bad day

Since you are riding hard you should be drinking water several hours before the ride.
If riding hard means an all day ride then you should be drinking loads of water the day before the ride, during the ride, and after the ride.
