My wife is very short inseamed, (26 in.) and only 5 ft. in height, in the past we had to really search for a road bicycle to properly fit her. What style of bent would be better for her, long or short wheelbase?? Would over or understeering systems be to her advantage? Even in a comfort bicycle, Jo has to ride a "step thru or S-frame verision" so the bents look like it might solve her problem for a good road bike.

We strictly recreational cyclist, no racing, heavy training and although possible in the future, no super long distance or touring. Any idea of brands that would work for her, yes, price is a issue but not the most important one. Thanks all suggestions, comments, etc. are welcome!

My Wife Is 5' 1" She rides a sun EZ-3 trike I ride a Sun EZ-1 No problems with either one.
EZ-3 trike is about 700.00 EZ-1 500.00 US. We are casual fitness riders 10 mile jaunts or just the subdivision. When she is not looking I refit and jump on the trike its just plain cool. GO BENTS!!

Generally speaking, long wheelbase bikes are easier to fit for short people. That's because they don't require the rider to reach past the front wheel to get to the pedals. Long wheelbase bikes tend to have lower seats than short wheelbase bikes, too. Trikes are another possibility, for the same reasons. If you are willing to deal with the unsusual tire sizes, the Catrike (http://www.catrike.com/) Pocket looks good for short people.
