Hi guys. Thanks for the info you have given me so far.

I have sold my Bianchi mountain bike and am now in the process of choosing between a Trek 4900, a Garry Fisher Tassajara and a Kona Nu Nu.

Components apart which Frame would you guys recommend. I plan on keeping this bike for quite a long time so I want a good frame which will be worth upgrading if need be.

Please help me as they seem all the same to me.

And, one last thing, do the Kona have a lifetime guarantee on the frame like the Trek and the Fisher??

Thanks to all and have fun riding.

A coworker is looking at 2 of the 3 bikes you mentioned. He's interested in the Trek, the Gary Fisher and a Giant Iguana. Of the 3, he's more interested in the Tassajara, and is planning on going on a test-ride tomarrow. From what he and I have determined, the Giant has the best price, then Trek and then GF, but the Fisher has a better spec (more Deore components). IOW, it costs a little more, but you get a little better spec for the $$$. Plus, the most important factor is the fit, he didn't like the way the Giant rode as much as the Trek and still waiting for the GF. The other factor is looks, he much prefers the GF's paint scheme and colors over the other two.

Good Luck

Really check out the Tassajara, I purchased one recently and really enjoy it. I believe in the August issue of Mountain Bike Review, the Tassajara came in second place for bikes that were under $ 700. The only bike that beat it was a Jamis Dekar? (I think) but it had a rear suspension, so it's a little like comparing apples etc.

I too vote for the fisher. We now have 3 in the family.Of course there are also 3treks(including a "01 4900),2 gt's,1 c'dale and i'm building the wife a spec stumpy m4 pro.Out of all these, stumpy aside, we all love the fishers best.
