Bicycle Mechanics - adaptor for headshok fatty m

i have a cannondale super v 500 sl 99 model which i used only few times in the summers.
has only 13800 km and used in paved roads for tours only.
the fork headshok super fatty m is expensive and i assume lower quality than other cheaper forks which i used.
the fork is going soft, without to use the bike just because of the pass of time.
I have to replace the fork; is it possible to fit the regular forks fork into the cannondale super v 500 sl?
can i demontage the headshok fatty m by my self?

I would take to a shop, and have them rebuild it. I had it done on my T800 and it made a world of difference. I looked at the instructions on the Cdale site, it's not really HARD to do, but does require a rebuild kit and a special tool. It was worth it to me to have the shop do it, seems like it was about 50 bucks total.

If you want to replace it, Cane Creek does make a headset to use a 1 1/8th inch fork, but you are also going to have to find a fork with enough length to make up for the loss of travel to keep your geometry the same.

i use the bike in a small town in northern greece.i bought the bike new in 99 for 2500 DMs in munich
There is one, not specialised dealer, of cannondale in athens 600 Kms south of my location.
It is not worth for me to make this trip to carry with me the bike to get a low service level.
it is better to leave it as it is.
i am asking if i can demontage by my self the fork and fix another regular fork.
For me fatty m it is an expensive problem.

Ok, got your situation. The problem is that the headshok stems are a WAY oversized one, and I don't know if anybody makes a replacement in that size that isn't a suspended fork. it's a 1.5 inch steerer, and that makes finding a replacement tough. The other problem is that since it's got about 25mm of travel built into it, you have to find a stem that is going to measure out the same from the bottom of the head tube on the frame to the dropouts. Hopefully somebody with access to more resources than I will be able to find something that works, and will post it here.

There's no cheap fix for this. The Cane Creek solution is about US$90, then you still need a fork. A short travel fork shouldn't be too much trouble to find though. For places outside of the US, where Cannondale support is limited, it doesn't make financial sense to try and maintain a Headshok. Oh, you can get frame reducers that allow you to install a 1-1/8" headset, but that increases the stack height so much, you'll have a hard time finding a used fork with a long enough steerer. It also creaks more than your bottom bracket.
