Whenever I apply my front brake when I'm on the bike there is a steady clicking noise every 3/4 to 2/3 of tire rotation. I thout it might be out of true, flipped it over and checked, but have noticed no significant movement. My brakes sit on the rim when closed about 1/8" below the rubber and are tight. What might this be?

maybe there is something on your rim. if you have some rubbing alcohol you can clean it off. or some very fine sand paper. try it out

Could be a burr on the metal. I've flicked rocks up and taken a little chunk out of the rim. Carefully run you finger around the rim and see if there is a sharp edge.

Other clicky things that I've had happen are from the computer pickup getting bumped and it clicks on every revolution or a blip from a banged up rim or, worse yet, a sidewall failure of the rim :eek:

The "every 3/4 to 2/3" is what's throwin' me here. If it happened every full rotation then I'd think "rim seam" or computer sensor but if it's not on each full revolution then I've gotta think it's something else. Verify it's not every full revolution. If it's not, then maybe something in the hub?

My first thought was spoke tension. Check to see if you have any loose spokes, and check tension generally overall. A wheel can be totally true and still have loose spokes. Just a thought

the last time something like this happened to me (with the clicking that's somewhat inconsistent with wheel revolution), my hubs were going bad.

Better not be my hubs going bad, I've barely put 200 miles on this bike! I will, however, check/clean rims and pads and verify my spoke tension. Thanks!
