Has anybody seen this model? I just got an NOS pair of track wheels that came with the open pro ssc model rims laced to campy hubs. Any info on the rims would be great.

I don't know the vintage of your wheels, but back when Open Pros were in production the SSC designation meant Service Speciale Course" (special service for racing) and were sold at a premium over the standard model. Some were also identifiable by a blue anodizing. It's been a while and I forget if the difference was the alloy, heat treat, or extra care in production (or all three or just pure marketing).

I had a pair of SSC tubular rims for a long time, and remember they built up nicely and held up very well (or at least until the next rain filled pothole - my lifelong nemesis).

True them up, and if the hubs are in good shape you've something you'll enjoy for years.

Pretty much all the Open Pros say "ssc" on them...every one that I've built says it - even the silver finish ones.

=8-)

Probably true. My info went back a number of years, before Mr. Gorman passed away and the company was sold. Back then SSC meant something, but like all things it probably got diluted to marketing hype since. I haven't bought a Mavic rim in over 20 years, and am still working off a bunch of Campy tubular rims I'd bought on closeout back then.
