Yes, you, too can write 50,000 words in 30 days! Anyone else doing this crazy novel-thingy? http://www.nanowrimo.org/ This will be my 4th year....wow!

That sounds fun, but is it only done in November? I don't have time this month, but I'd love to do it someday.

What have you done with the novels you wrote before? What are you going to write about this time?

Good luck, and have fun with it.

you can set your self down and do it anytime, but the *event* only happens in November. My other novels are waiting on a shelf for me to edit them. that is the hardest part. What am I going to write about this year? I HAVE NO IDEA! and I will start tonight! augh! Of course, it is fun to just sit down and see where the words take me.

Jesus christ! With so many shi*ty novels written every year, do we really need a month dedicated to them?

Those who can do, those who can't critisize. ;)

everyone has a novel or story to tell. this is just a fun and challenging way to get people to get it out on paper. think about how impressed your friends will be when you tell them you have written a novel this month!

I have done it! another novel in the bag! 50,000 words done in 27 days (3 days ahead of schedule!). I can clean my house, cook a proper meal, do some laundry, go out with my friends again; until next November!

How many words is that to write per day?

I was thinking about starting up something this morning. With both my parents suffering terribly from neurological disorders and both expected not to survive through the next couple of years, I'm thinking there's so much to be said that perhaps I'd like to write a book of conversations. But I'm not sure if I'd want to wait until Nov.

What was it about?

So, now what? When do we get to read your novel?? Or, can you post the Cliff Notes version here? :)

My goal was 2k words a session. that takes me anywhere from an hour and a half (if the words are flowing out of my fingertips) or all night (if I am distracted, frustrated, at loss for what my silly characters are going to do next). If you are interested, you can read an excerpt of my novel here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/userinfo.php?uid=12149

remember: this is FICTION, i am an AMATEUR and it is UNEDITED! :-)

Koffee: sounds like you are going through quite a bit. My suggestion would be to start journaling now if you are not already. get what you can on paper every day until you have gotten through the experience. i've found that I am better able to write about an experience (or six) after I've been through it, and have some distance between me and it. Journaling is a great way to get your thoughts down so you can use them when you are ready. My heart goes out to you for what you have been and will be going through!

Heh. I did that once. Its still sitting on some 3 1/2 inch floppy disketts. I dont think anybody but me has seen that pile of crap/drivel i wrote. I'd like to rewrite it again. Have so many ideas. Need to spend about 1-2k on writing books and need to expand my vocabulary alot.

Maybe you need a NAtional NOvel EDITing Season, aka NANOEDITS. :)

sadly....http://www.nanoedmo.org/....tried to do it one year, but just got distracted with life and all....will have to try again!

Perhaps you just need a trusted editor to help you out.

CycleMagic
11-29-05, 07:02 PM
perhaps I do, Jason! that was my mother's suggestion also!

jschen
11-29-05, 07:17 PM
Maybe your mother is offering to edit?

It is that time of the year again! Let the writing commence! Anyone else gonna jump on the novel train?

I can't believe I signed on to do nanowrmo again. There's no way I'll have the time to get it done. That being said, I've already written 4500 words. It's the humorous tale of a supposed Proust scholar who as it turns out has never even finished Swann's Way.

CycleMagic

Oh, cool, bikebuddha! How many years have you nano-ed? I like your theme. Sounds interesting! My theme is .....well....so far 4200 words of blithering nonsense. Maybe I am writing the next Finnegans Wake! Think anyone will go for that again?

bikebuddha

This is my second nanowrimo. I did it in 02 or was it 03. In a bizarre coincidence my story includes a store called Finnegan’s Wake.

that is a strange coincidence...interesting how the universe works, isn't it?
