Besides crackstar, I am looking for another bike shop in any of the 5 boros who carry good selection parts(dbl. toe straps, chris king headsets, phil wood bb, etc, etc). Most shops I know will end up ordering most of these parts, but I want to know who has a lot of this in house. Only reason for not using crackstar is that most of the parts are going onto the credit card(not good), and this one in particular they do not take.

why don't you like trackstar?

Toga does... and Sid's on 34th has a lot of candy in stock as well. Depending on what you're looking for, Chelsea on 26th has some good stuff as well.

Quite the contrary some of the parts I am putting on the new frame are coming from there shop. They just don't take the credit card I use for heavy purchases.

Is there a reason you call the shop CRACKSTAR?

R U using AMEX? That is the only card I know that Trackstar doesn't take.

Alot of vendors don't use AMEX now due to high merchant fees.

on a side note, anyone know a shop that has a decent selection of shoes. My old school diadora's are just getting too retro and need to be put away for the rest of my life. They're actually awesome, but are developing a nasty lil' hole in the back of the right heel after years of abuse.

It's sounds better than trackstar. Kinda rolls off the tongue. Sounds to corny to say that every time I go in there they crack me up(they are all pretty good guys who have helped me out a ton, good time in kyoto *****es). And yes it is a amex card I am using. I know some of the more mainstream shops take amex.

I got my Carnac road shoes at Renaissance on 82nd/Columbus. Good selection.

crackstar for labor, bicyclestation for parts. not that bicyclestation's labor is bad, but their parts are priced better.

I got my sidi from RA. Yeah I know RA sucks and blah blah blah, but I was in the market for new mtn shoes and they had 'last years' model, this was in march. I got the dominators for under 200 which wasn't bad. They have good prices once in a while and a pretty good selection, service can really sucks though.

I go to bicycle station for labor cuz its close to be, but yeah, mike can get good prices for part.

RA does suck, its funny that everyone sorta implicitly knows that. but the question that has plagued mankind: why DOES it suck so much?

Always cheaper.
