"Rule out any project that is gated, that lacks sidewalks, or that have a tree-like street system, rather than a grid network. The project as a whole should connect well with surrounding neighborhoods, developments, or towns, while also protecting regional open space."

Thanks Carless, that's some great info. I usually check-out the culturechange.org site and get the e-mail notices. I'll have to look through my list of favorites in this area and see what I can ad. I'm really trying to find some active sites for the Los Angeles, Ca. area; kind of odd since it's one of the most car-centric areas in the country.

Don't forget that you can do an interloan at your local US library and it is ( should be ) free except for interloaning from Alaska and possibly Hawaii. For those of you who don't know what an interloan is, you can have your local library send out a request to other libraries throughout the nation for books your library does not have on hand.

I like this site because it's a free magazine the advocates a carfree lifstyle

More than anything else, lightrail made me carfree for life. I always like to keep up to date and new lightrail development and it's a pleasure to see all the new lines opening in the U.S. each year. All you have to do is find one in a city close to where you live, move next to a station (witin a mile) and find a job on another other station or the end of the line. You're now car free.

I like this site because the authors are urban advocates and write about important issues.

Let's not forget the person who started in bike commuting in the first place, Paul Dorn.
