Anyone ever try one of their bikes. They're supposed to be US made. Judging by their location it might be Waterofrd that makes them. The bikes look a lot like a Gunnar. At $500 for a US Made True Temper tubeset that isn't a bad price.

I looked at one and called up Ben's Bike and found out some stuff that isn't on their website. Namely there are no fender eyelets or rack mounting options. They really are going for the whole "street track" thing. They do not have any set up for test rides, but definitely will let you come over to personally pay & pick up your frame.
Give 'em a call if you have questions. They were extremely nice.

I just find them ugly.

I stopped into their shop to have a look the last time I was in milwaukee. the one I looked at had holes in the dropouts to serve as fender eyelets, so you should be able to fender them w/o a problem. that's contingent on their choice of forks as well though, they had been using surlys, then switched to IRO's for availability reasons. no clue what they're using now.

i just got one off ebay a couple weeks ago and love it so far, even if the one i got is running 39x16 with 175s and with ugly wide anatomic drops, and the only spare pedals i had lying around were bmx platforms. i'm working on remedying this situation. anyhoo, i don't think they're any uglier than an iro, though, unless you have a thing against orange. i kind of have a thing for orange. welds are nice and smooth. geometry is fine. nothing looks particularly weird about it.... the stickers come off nice and easy too. mine has a surly fork on it.

I don't have anything against orange.
I actually have a thing for orange frames too.
Ben's has this vintage orange Batavus (sp?) road frame hanging from their ceiling that i LOVE.
It's just the orange with the black components and blue decals doesn't appeal to me.
Totally a personal preference.

Buy a DeBernardi thron frame set for $490 at toeclip.com. Lugged Columbus. Sweet.

agreed, the black/orange combo is a little too halloweenie all year long. i'm hoping to have my orange and blue mets-mobile thing going by the time spring training rolls around.
