I dont really know anything about bikes but i found someone selling a 70s Merckx bike. It is not in the best condition however (paint job at least). I am going to look at it tomorrow probably, but while i was reading on here it seemes like there was a chance it was not a real Merckx and instead some type of reproduction? I wonder if anyone could further explain that to me.

Before Merckx started his own factory he jobbed out different levels of bikes to various manufacturers, the middle and most of the upper to Falcon. These bikes were constructed with 531 Reynolds and various grades of components. They were, all in all, pretty good bikes. Unfortunately, you don't have one of those. You have the lower end of his bike line, and, while cool (especially the Molteni orange paint job) doesn't have a lot of value. A "Real" Merckx from the 70's, though.

Kessel, that was the other name that I was looking for. Kessel built the team bikes and the very high end in the '70's.
