General Cycling Discussion - Southern Illinois Photos

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, I'm thinkin' "hilly terrain" is a relative term. (But then, I live near "the mountains" of Shenendoah Nat'l Park, that would leave a Coloradan scratching her head. "I don't see any mountains."). That bike route looks a little dubious, too. ;)

Roadbuzz, the hilly terrain sign is a little early on its warning.A few miles down the road it looks like picture #1. I'm Hillyman not mountainman. If you have signs that say hilly terrain going into the mountains, I think thats understating the situation! In picture #1 you can barely see Bald Knobb Cross in the background.Believe it or not the locals of Alto Pass area call it Bald Knob mountain. This area is the tail end of the Ozark mountain chain.Mountain overstates, hilly is perfect. The Trans-America runs right through here, and I've been asked by many tourers if theres a flater route than the bike route.:D
