Hey,
In October, I am going to go and visit a friend who lives in las vegas. I will be staying with her for almost a month. Where are the best places to ride in Vegas. I like hills. My friend has asked some locals, and they say the Red Rock loop is cool. Any opinions??what's the weather like in october?? is it good riding weather??? should I bring tights, shorts. short sleeved jersey, water???

I'm not from Vegas, but greatly enjoyed the Red Rock Loop last year. If adventurous, you can head up to Mt. Lemmon (?) or ride from Vegas itself (west side) up to the loop which is only about 15 miles around or thereabouts.

Las Vegas is in the desert; that means warm or hot days and cool evenings. They are still having 90 degree weather. Next week, it may start to get cooler, but not by much.

There is a century ride in Las Vegas on October 19.
More info at

(I'm not affiliated with the ride. My club decided that it would be a fun outing).

hey Joey, when exactly are you coming it would be great to spin together and show ya around. there are many places to ride, red rock is an awesome loop, and most of the time when you go there, you see more cyclists then you can shake a stick at! but there is also the lake mead loop, and the boulder city loop both great rides. Among other places I know of a few places that are really fun to ride at but are within the city. Aslo on the 19th there is the Las Vegas century (which you can still register for) and I will be riding it. should be great fun :D

also as for weather, in october it can get pretty cold, but this summer has been unusally warm and I think it will linger into october some, so not sure if it will really get cold, but you might want to bring some long tights, and some long sleeve jerseys, along with summer clothes and leg and arm warmers.

Just got back from Vegas last week. I was there on business and was only able to book a local tour for a morning's ride.

If you like hills you might check out Cottonwood Valley, just a little way past the entrance to Red Rock. Not straight up, but rather a gradual climb from the parking lot that seemed to go on and up forever. Very gradual, but for a guy from flat, sea-level New York definetly a challenge. It was worth the going up for the coming down - rocks, ledges, drops, etc.

I going to be out there the first week of December. I know it's a little chilly early but the afternoons should be great riding weather. My wife and I are looking for a good place to rent some decent bikes.
Any ideas?

there are a few places, one in particular that I would rather have you take your business to (as they have been really kind to me) that is the

"bike shop" (702)-897-1618

other places that I believe also rent are:
Mcghies (702)-252-8077
Bikes USA (702)-642-2453
Peloton sports (702)-3631991
Pro Cyclery (702)-228-9460
Escape the city (702)-596-2953

hope this helps :D
