Dave through the Americas - Lots of Pics and Updates coming soon

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sorry for the slackin. Sometimes its hard to get motivated to spend hours in front of the computer typing. Especially when I'm having such a good time!

I've just hit a mark though. I've made it to Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC and I will have some time here to update my writings and post up photos as well. I have over 300 new photos to sort through!

Peace and thanks for reading.
Dave

Yeah, remember, we are all living embarassingly vicarious touring lives through you. You have been posting wonderful reports, and we appreciate the time you are giving us.

My wife and I visited Victoria a couple of years ago. What a delightful place. Of course, we got there by ferry, not by bike!
Regards,
Raymond

I hate when you update us like this! Now i'll spend the next 8hrs of my day reading your posts rather then sleeping! ;)

BTW, What camera do you use? The pictures are amazing. Is it your camera, or is it really that awesome up north?

I use a Sony Digital Camera. The specific model # is DSC-S70. I love it. As for the quality, you can adjust the resolution. For all of the ones I post on the site I use the lowest resolution due to your size restrictions. Plus loading time is fastest too. The photos average around 60k and the resolution is 640x480. The max resolution on this camera is 2048x1536 but it produces a huge file and I rarely use it. I do go up one level of quality on many photos and save them in case I want to print them out someday. I wish I could post those but they are significantly larger files, about 500k, but you notice the quality difference.
Anyway, there are digital cameras that are twice as good as this one, but I am happy with what I got. I think it's more than practical for website photo display and thats what I use it for most.
I think there is a kind of magic up here that can make anyone seem like a master photographer. Maybe my talent is just knowing when to stop and push the button.

I'm glad you like the photos and am happy to share them.

Sorry about the flood of entries. There is nothing I can really do about that. I suppose I can make more frequent entries now that I will be traveling through more populated areas. Believe me, I don't like spending a huge chunk of time in front of the computer. I missed out on a great day today catching up on all these entries. So I'll be looking forward to making more frequent postings as well.

Peace

Dave

Hi just caught your latest missive.
Your writing style sure makes for easy reading. Its almost like we are really there with you
Are these being written for a magazine column as well ? if not there are zillions missing out which would be a real pity.
I am certain there are a cycle mag publishers in UK that would give there eye teeth for material of this exceptional quality.

Hope you planning to publish in book form , put me down for a signed f/ed
safe journey

Oh man, you are too much. Actually, I'm not that impressed with my writing style. Its tough to write something everyday without making everything seem so chronological: "I did this..and then I did this.."
I would like to improve my vocab, and get a little more colorful in my discriptions, but then I probably wouldn't be able to write every day. So it seems there is bit of a trade off.
Thanks for the complement. The point of these updates is to put you right there with me, so I guess I'm doing alright. :)

Thanks for reading.

Peace

Dave
