Does anyone have a Haluzak Horizon recumbent?
If so, how do you like it?

I have a 1994 Haluzak Horizon that has served me well over the years. I have toured through the Atlantic Provinces, Arizona and even Netherlands and Belgium with it. The company orginally billed it as a heavy touring SWB bent but I have found the basic version has considerable frame flex and peddle steer in it.
I understand now they will make a heavier tube thickness in rear stays and main tube if you specify you want a touring bike. I use a BOB trailer when touring but it still flexes and shimmys considerably at higher speeds (over 25km/hr) with 30kg load even with a fairing attached.
I have replaced the rear cog assembly to make it a 24 speed, replaced all brakes to a V-brake front, hub brake at back. I have underseat steering and bar-con shifters (excellent shifters). The alumimum seat frame broke in half last year, metal fatigue after 7 years of my butt in the seat, replaced by Haluzak at no charge.
It was a nice first time bent for me but the problems of mono-tube construction (too much flex). The turning radius is poor also, due to steering bar hitting the seat. It would make a nice commuter bike instead of big tours.
I have since purchased a Challenge Distance and plan to use this as my main bike.
Hope this helps......
