Commuting - Exercise Bike for Sale, Barely Used...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I think it's hilarious when you see exercise equipment for sale and as a selling point the owner says "barely used."
I can understand WHY. It's a heck of a lot more addictive to ride on the road/trail/etc with the adrenaline that comes from cagers/roots/etc. than to watch the paint peel.
I guess they just do that to drive up the price of the bike. I mean, a barely used bike will probably generate more money than a 2 year old, lightly used bike, in my opinion.

I have an exercise bike and it's used all the time. In fact, I was able to lose MORE weight with that bike than using my bikes! The reason being that you don't coast on an exercise and during the summer. It's really effective during the winter months and it saves wear and tear from using a trainer.
However, there are some negatives using an exercise bike. The seat is generally uncomfortable and this reason more than anything else is the reason why I believe there are so many barely used exercise bikes out there. In addition, I've suffered bio-mechanical problems on my exercise bike and there's very little you can do in terms of adjustments.
Still. if you take it easy and put some additional cushion, it can give you exercise during cold winter months.
All bikes are exercise bikes! :)

I think it's funnier when on eBay they use that "barely used" term describing books. I even remember see it used when someone was selling a painting once. What's a barely used painting? Ah... I only looked at it once or twice.

They've got some pretty sweet exercise bikes at the gym here at work. The seats are standard bike seats so you could swap them out with your own,the pedals have straps on one side and SPD cleats on the other, and they even have bullhorn bars. :D
I had one of those Gazelle machines, but never used it. Bought it just before I moved to DC,but didn't put it together. Then when I got here I didn't need it cause I ride the bikes all year round. Wound up giving it to my Mother, who's prolly using it as a coatrack.
