Buyer beware on the Mtb Competition boot.

Follow on. Overall constructions is good and workmanship seems good. Despite the ad, they DO NOT have a fleece liner. The company says it was a mistake in the ad. They only have the warmth of a regular Mt. Bike shoe so you'll need to add a fleece liner for winter riding.

To cut down on the cold, I sandwiched a swatch of windproof fleece under and over thier flimbsy cardboard foot piece and a 2nd liner over the top.

Company response is helpful, but I already have about 150 miles on them:

www.gaernebike.com says they'll refund. Here is their response:

Feel free to return the shoes if you're unhappy with them. The fleece
lining copy came from the lower priced shoes that were never brought into
this country but we picked up that shoe's copy by mistake.

Most people feel that the fully gusseted inner boot and the wind resistant
outer shell make up for heavy insulation but again, return the shoes for a
full refund if they're unused and we'll have to work out some other deal if
they've been used.

Sorry you're unhappy with them and that we made a mistake in the copy on the
website.

Thanks for the reply. I actually ended up going with the Lake MXZ 300 because I got last years model for cheap. Review to come as we all of a sudden had a warm spell here on the East coast of the US.
