I just came across the Mikado Bike website. This Canada bike manufacturer build a wide range of hybrid and touring bikes. From their web page design and introduction, it seem to be a well established company

http://www.mikadobicycles.ca/

However, I have never seen any of these bikes before in the Uk, USA magazines and internet reviews.
So can anyone who know something or tried this brand, kindly provide some useful information to me? Thank you

It's a well know bicycle manufacturer, here, in Québec.

Like many others, it manufactures a quite a few models and quite a few brands, from the low end to the mid-to-high end.

The Mikado series is one of their good brands. However, when I look at their touring bikes, they design them with an inclined top tube and a compact frame. These are two design attributes I don't like (maybe I'm too traditionalist), but then, Bruce Gordon builds one of the best touring bikes in roughly the same configuration, albeit with a lower bottom bracket. Any comparison between the Mikado and the Bruce Gordon should stop there, however.

The Mikado touring bike uses STI (less repair possibilities on the road) and v-brakes with travel-agent (a good cable-eater).

I haven't investigated any of their other bikes. They should have a honest selection of parts, but nothing that should entice you to buy one of their bike, unless you have a local dealer.

I forgot one thing. Since you are in Singapore, you might look at the local market, or else, look at the Thorn bicycles from St. John Street Cycles (http://www.sjscycles.com/), in U.K.

Their bikes have a good reputation, and from what I read on other bike lists, they routinely sell abroad (including to the U.S.A.), and are competitive with American offerings, even for Americans.

If you want a high-end bike, even custom, look at Bike Specialties (http://www.bikespecialties.com/) from Toronto (Canada). I only heard great things about that shop.

Thank you for the useful recommendation. Well, I am not planning to buy a new touring bike too soon (probably after this year). So now doing some online research work to discover the best value touring bike worldwide.

I knew about the SJS store from cycling plus magazine, yes their bike is among the best value so far. No problem for me in any
worldwide ordering, I have many oversea friends who can help if no cheap delivery is available.

So far, I have found many high quality touring bike and frame. both custom and pre made from the UK, Europe, USA and Canada. Seem like there will be a hard making decision for me in the coming new year
