What great camouflage! Seriously, it can be a good idea to dress for "cultural camouflage" so that passing drivers feel less different from you. Hell, I'd wear a Winston, Smith & Wesson, or Dale Earnhardt Memorial jersey in a minute; they'd be good cover in my area. Also, NRA regalia would work the same way.

Why on earth would NASCAR advertise themselves to a demographic that has little or no interest in them? Most folks here go nuts when they find out you drive your car to work occassionally! *gasp!*

Yeah, I know where you can get some. They just got the new shipment of NASCAR's Tour de Redneck apparel in at K-Mart. I think it's in the same department as the Team Martha Stewart jerseys and the Rosie O'Donnell custom frames! You gotta be kidding... :roflmao:

Please - trashing NASCAR as being only for 'Rednecks' highlights your ignorance and narrow world view. Having a southern accent doesn't mean somebody is a redneck.

Funny how the most 'sophisticated' are the quickest to condemn somthing they don't understand.

Stereotypes just plain suck.

Better end this thread - or move it - before it gets nasty. I'm from the South...fully equipped with a southern accent. Die-hard NASCAR fans from the South are rednecks. Go to Talladega just once...you'll know the deal. Fights going on over which driver, Gordon or Earnhardt Jr., is better. So my advice to you is the following: GET OFF MY TIP!!!!!!

I do NOT have a southern accent.
I am NOT a redneck in any way shape or form.
I DO love racing in ALL forms.
I AM a fan of NASCAR Winston Cup in particular.

Yes, they DO have engineers on staff. It is WAY more sophisticated than the old days.

-I live in a very small town that has more bars than stoplights
-I own a 4x4
-I have a car that has spent the last year on jackstands with all 4 wheels off
-I have a fridge that was originaly acquired simply to store beer
-The fridge is in my garage
-the fridge is covered in racing (but not NASCAR) stickers
-I recently used the word 'Dang' in casual speech
-I have attended the Brickyard400
-I own a bird dog
-that dawg dont hunt, though
-I have now used the phrase 'that dawg dont hunt' in real life
-My next door neighbor has given me bud lite as a christmas present.


In addition to filling the Hick stereotype, since I've seen NASCAR as well as most other types of racing live and in person I feel qualified to say that its a buncha pansy's. "ohh, my car has a scratch... I have to quit the race. Oooh, its raining, I have to quit the race. Ohhh, that Jeff Gordon guy must be homosexual since He has a multicolored car and wins alot... he threatins my manhood and I have to quit the race"
Want to trade paint? Fine, fine, go race your lil' NASCARs.
Want to trade fenders and hoods? Race GT.
Want to trade skill and talent, race rally.
Want to trade top speeds? Race F1

Want to trade maxHR's or V02 MAX? Well I do. I say drop the nascar subject and get back to biking :)

I can see it now, people on bikes riding around in a little circle all day having all kinds of fantastic accidents. :D

Most people watch NASCAR for the accidents, well whenever someone has it on and I'm forced to watch it that's what I like to see. Otherwise seeing cars that all look alike going around a little circle at 200mph doesn't do it for me. :p

Visit your local velodrome. The accidents aren't as "fantastic," but it's an enjoyable experience overall.

My LBS owner/mechanic started out as a wrench for Tyrell formular 1 team, them moved to Lotus, before upgrading to the bike world.

While I'm not a big fan of watching NASCAR (it's a bunch of cars going really fast... all good at turning left |8^), I can identify with wanting dispirate jersey designs. However... think about it. I certainly don't relish the thought of going out for a ride on the road sporting a bike jersey patterned after the cars of Team Target.
