I just received my new Answer Kashmir SPD boots. I immediately noticed how narrow they were for my wide foot.
My understanding is that everyone else is just as narrow. Does anyone know of a WIDE winter SPD boot. And which one of the "narrows" are the widest.
Damn the Italians and their narrow feet!!!!

WOW this is good to know, I was very close in ordering the Answer Kashmir SPD boots.
I wound up ordering the LAKE 301's winter boot... write ups say they have a bigger toe box, I will find out Wednesday!
I have Answer Palisade Shoes that are plenty wide and long

Well let me revise my statement. The soul of the shoe is certainly narrow. But my foot fits in it OK. It's just kinda "too long".
If this was hiking boot it would be totally unacceptable. But this is not as important as cycling.
I mounted my egg-beater cleats to the Kashmirs today and gave them a try. Installation was VERY smooth and the shims I used under the cleats have completely masked the SPD slots. I'm hoping this will form an effective seal.
My current shoes are a Sette Enduro with an Egg Beater Mallet-C (http://www.pricepoint.com/detail/13431-285_SETCR4_KIT-3-Parts-65-Pedals/Sette-Enduro-Shoes-w_--Crank-Brothers-Mallet-C-Pedals.htm). I had to do quite a bit of hacking on the Sette Enduro soul to get them to clip in and out of the Mallets. The Kashmirs went in and out of the Mallets just fine with no trimming required.
The other issue for me was the size of the ankle area. It's too big. I wear a 12.5W-13 US and bought a size 48 (which in Answer is a 13.5 US). The Shoes are too long and it causes the ankle to pull up during walking (and obviously cycling). But I compensated with thick socks (which is to be expected) and a pair of neoprene ankle supports. This did the trick and the shoes work great.
What I have read in other places were that the Lake MXZ300s were pretty narrow. I am interested in knowing if the MXZ301 is a wider shoe than the MXZ300 and Answer Kashmir. It's still not too late to send my Answer Kashmirs back ;-)

Northwave Grizzly's are wider than normal. I have a very wide foot, kinda like a duck's foot. I was suprised to find these fit fine. They're plenty warm, but they have some other nitpicky issues like low ankle coverage.

<----- wears 13.5 to 14's (US) which makes the Answers 48 perfect size for me.
But I still am going with the Lake's 301 shoe (hoping the 48's will work)
Mine should be here Wed.

Walkafire, let me know how they fit. I'm considering them, but I wear a really really wide 13 US sneaker... My 14 US cannondale roams are almost too narrow yet also longer than necessary.

Walkafire, let me know how they fit. .
Egg: I have had a few days to ride with the New Lake 301's...
They are GREAT!
I got size 48, which is a PERFECT FIT for my size 13.5 (US)
I wear 48 in Answer shoes and they are about the same, maybe a "hair" longer.
But the Toe Box feels great! I have worn heavy socks already to test them.
They are the Warmest I have ever had.
No more Booties unless I wear my Summer Shoes.
I can only fore see 1 Problem for you.... SIZE
I can't find the Sizing Chart now, but I remembered ya when I read it.
You see, there seemd to be a BIG jump from 47 to 48
I am thinking maybe Size 12 to 13.5 (US)?
I am thinking the sizing is Rght on the Money for LAKE Shoes.
I wear a 13.5 US and the Lake 48 fits like a Glove! (with room for a little heavier sock)
