If they're not treaded, you can stick em' where the sun don't shine n' quit braggin'! :D
Just teasin', at least one of us got it instead of some scammer trying to flip it for profit...

last time I checked, eBay wasn't a library or a charity. If someone wants to buy then sell it and someone buys it for more than its worth - that is their choice. There is nothing wrong with people paying too much for stuff on eBay in my opinion. Hell, I bought a pair of shoes from $15 and sold them 3 months later for $114. Guess what? I win.
Don't get all over-sensitive because someone with money outbids you on something. Things could be worse.

He was telling you the truth.
I'd say flip it, get your profit, and buy a track fork. That rake looks awefully large to me.

We'll see. I really like the look of the fork, so if the rake isn't too much more than the fork I currently have (came stock on the 2001 pista) I'll keep it.
How is rake measured anyway?

rake is the offset distance between the imaginary line that runs straight through the steerer tube and the line through the actual fork ends (or skewer).
Track forks usually have a rake of 38mm or less. Some road forks (especially these older ones) have 50mm plus.

if the fork rake is too great, your handling will suffer. if it does turn out that way, come over. I have a vise that can coldset the steerer tube into your preferred angle (to a certain degree—it doesn't perform miracles). people often ruin their forks by trying to set the blades themselves—that just ends up misalligning your front wheel!

Steak - I will definitely take you up on that if the fork is too relaxed.
I cannot find any info online about this fork or anywhere that sells just the fork. I asked the seller about the rake and he has yet to get back to me. I am just praying that it's not a fork from the Cinelli Super Corsa because the fork on that bike has about a 57mm rake.
How much can your vise adjust the steer tube? 20mm??

I'm talking about scammers, boy. Real scammers who use lure keywords like Cinelli, not Bianci, or simply have no history, or default on shipping. I'm all for our boy re-selling the forks and making a few bucks, becuase then the money stays in the community, like a circle. You're the one who's sounding a bit sensitive talking about being outbid. That is not the topic of discussion at all, where did that come from? Go ride your bike, we still love you. ;) Peace.

uhm, hello?!? ... taco = compulsive liar?!?
omg sean, I thought you'd call me on this, but I forgot you're canadian. if I coldset your steerer tube, it won't go into your head tube. if the rake is too lax there is nothing you can do but turn around and make a profit. sigh.

Will you please put that fork on ebay? You've been pushing it for a month to anyone who mentions the word fork. Also, zero gal obviosly wants a threaded fork. //end rant.

why can't you cold set the fork to a slightly different rake.
i've had two crashes where i changed the rake on my fork by about 1-2 cm each time. no ill effects except more toe overlap and twitchy steering.
i'd like to just throw it in a vice and undo the change in rake.

How do you WIN something on ebay? $128 + shipping is not exactly the deal of a lifetime for a steel fork.
To me, winning something means you received it free. "Win" is the sort of word that fuels ebay`s attraction- people often pay more money than something is worth, all while feeling like a "winner." It is brilliant, really.

So, if you pay to enter a bike race and you win then you wouldn't tell anyone you won because you paid to enter? Your logic makes no sense sir.

Well, smart guy, it's an auction. In an auction there are winners. You're going against other bidders and if you come out on top, you win. Money isn't the issue. And for the record I didn't WIN it for $128. I WON it for $80. $80 for a steel Cinelli fork isn't something to shake a stick at.

LIghten up Francis... a buddy told me about a bike he won... I am thinking, oh, cool, you won a bike... then he said he purchased it on ebay. There was no luck or skill involved... he simply had the highest bid. It is the sort of psychology that drives prices up- that, and the fact that you might have to wait weeks for a similar item to be up for auction and for the auction to run its course.

Holy moley, this thread sure got testy. Anyhoo...
na975's fork looks like the generic chrome track fork that Spicer sells for $110. Not so **** hot. They're heavy, the chrome job is rotten, and they have more rake than groundskeeper willy.
$0.00 - if you want to adjust the rake of your fork you go after the blades, not the steer tube. Take it to someone who a) has the proper tools that are designed to do this, and b) knows how to use them. Also, I think what na975 was trying to say with that cryptic "u don't need no treads" thing was that if you want the fork threaded, you can get the threadless steer tube replaced with a threaded one. Which is true, but probably not worthwhile on a fork of that quality.
Fork rake, like all other things in bicycle life, is relative to the rest of your bike's geometry. 40mm of rake is going to put your axle in a different place given different head tube angles and lengths. Changing the rake of your fork isn't as simple an equation as saying more rake = less responsive. That's BS. Read this (http://www.phred.org/~josh/bike/trail.html) to learn more about rake, trail, head tube angles, etc.
