Did anyone see that little ITN news piece about the non-polluting car that runs on compressed air? It uses a small 25 hp. piston-driven engine that uses compressed air, stored in tanks, to power it. Zero emmissions.

Of course, to create the compressed air, a compressor is needed at the "fueling" station, which is driven by some kind of power. And in a collision, would the compressed air tanks explode?

Still, an innovative, simple idea. Will it work? Time will tell whether the new company that manufactures them gets enough orders for compressed air cars to make a profit.

At least people are thinking outside the box.

Sounds like hot air to me. Compressed air would not be very practical at all for transportation. Rotary tools are the hungriest of all pneumatic power tools. But hey, I could be wrong.

I find it amazing that we still use the same basic internal combustion engine that was invented in the mid 1800's. How is it that there has not been a new engine perfected in over a 150 years? Is the Big Three holding us back?
