so i have a redline disk-r, and the disk brakes are an endless source of annoyance. they usually stop well at speed, and make a horrible racket at low speed. sometimes they actually resonate in a way that keeps the pad from generating much useful friction, i.e. scary no stop situation. i have to let off, and pull again, trying to avoid the same resonance. i'm running the stock bronze pads. also i'm heavy(275 lbs) and tax them more than most people would. i opted away from canti's because of my past life on the trails. they are adjusted to avid's specs, i used to be a bike mechanic, so it's not like i ham fisted the adjustment.
does anyone have experience with other pads like ebc or kool stop? are there any tricks i'm missing? just as a side note, this frame flexes immensly under my weight. skipping gears when i stand (despite being in adjustment on the stand), its possible the caliper mounts are flexing enough to cause some misalignment, but i'd like to hear other people's experience. shoulda gone for some steel instead!
