Don't know anything about it.
Here it is. (http://www.avantibikes.com/bikes_detail.asp?id=246&t=14)
says that it has "suzue high flange hubs." from the pictures I've seen, which aren't close-up or detailed, they appear to be suzue juniors and not promax. given that most of the other parts on the bike are decent->good, it's surprising that they put such garbage hubs on the bike. hopefully they are promax, but i didn't see the trademark disco decals

can that be right? is it a kids bike?
Geometry is nasty. Looks like it's just another company's poor attempt to hop on the bandwagon. Components are okay, but nothing special. wonder what the price is on that.

well, at least the weight has been "ruthlessly stripped" from the damned thing. its probably the hands down winner for the worst attempt yet. burst the bubble already, for crying out loud.

Thanks giboyeux. I've done a fair bit of research online but I was looking for some firsthand views. Forexample are you able to put brakes on it?

i'd say it's a safe assumption that it is at least drilled for a front brake, which is all you would need considering that it has a rear brake already -- a fixed gear on the back, back pedaling motion will slow/stop you. if you wanted to add an actual rear hand-brake its simple enough to drill a hole if one isn't already drilled.

Did ya'lls see the 'suggest an improvement on this bike' link at the avanti site?

what's a better improvement to suggest to them:
-"Stop, please."
-sending a photo of a "proper" track bike

This from the 2005 Avanti Pista page. (http://www.avantibikes.com/bikes_detail.asp?id=219&t=12)
"*Ride the bike Sarah Ulmer used to train for her World Record and Olympic Pursuit! The Pista Pro has been re-vamped for 2005 to offer track cyclists a serious training bike from a points race to sprints. Blow your competition away!"
i think i threw up in my mouth a little

suzue also makes some OEM-only hubs that are decent. The rivendell quickbeam comes with an example of these. Not promax quality, but significanly better than junior.

And the bike isn't even the worst part. What's with the creepy ****** stock photo with the young boys at the beach?

Compact geometry is soooo ugly. I know they do it so they can produce less models that can fit a large range of people but are their any other advantages beside the bikes being maybe a little lighter and an awful eyesore
Traditional geometry is where it is at !!!!!!
