What kind of a twisted mind could create such a thing?

If I can quote Propane salesman Hank Hill on this one... "What the Hell ?" Looks liek someone had too much to drink and waaaay too much time on their hands to create something like that !

The hairdo and shorts are equally as fascinating as the bike

That's pretty bad. It took 40 seconds to download on a T1

Oh dear...a "different" bike. It must be evil. Destroy the evil bicycle, for it doesn't look like mine.

I love it! I'm just trying to figure out how it works... :)

The forward chain looks a bit unsafe to me.

But the idea is interesting. Why not? A workout for hands too and besides an additional powerhouse.

But why 2 seats?

I didn't even notice the two seats !!! I was transfixed by the two cranks, etc.

I wonder how old the guy is? Looks in pretty good shape.

It seems this bike is not cheap.

If he could afford such a bike, why not some cycling clothing and accessaries?

Presumably a man with only one leg?!:D

[PHP]Or was I too preoccupied with bigger thoughts, like: if toast always lands jam side down, and a cat always lands on its feet, what happens when you strap a piece of toast , jam side up, to the back of a cat?

I'm going to try this. My cats up for it
I'll report later:D

That thing is totally funky. I want one.

By the way, I think that the second seat is to support his chest when pedaling the front wheel.

I am sure that all the MTBers in the group are just jealous that they don't have one. Afterall, think about how it would solve traction problems on a really steep hill and so forth.

Cheers,
Jamie

The second seat is for the monkey to pedal. What good is a rig like that if you don't have a monkey to share the adventures it takes you on...... As for the shorts. i couldn't find them anywhere and my local LBS hasn't even heard of them.

Alright! 2-wheel drive :).

I think the second seat is for his chin, he pedals the from wheel with his right arm and grips the handlebar with his left one.

you know, i think that it is a ghetto-tandem. One person sits on the top seat, cranks the top crrank, and another sits on the normal seat, uses the regular handle bars...Thats my theory.

the problem with system is that the guy on the bottom has his face stuck in the other's ass the whole time, but hey, sacrifices have to be made!

The forward "seat" looks more like a chest support to provide leverage when arm pedaling.

Hey....

I know guys like that who invent and build experimental bikes like the one in the photo. Yes, they often look zany just like the guy in the photo. My guess is he is a genious.

It looks funny at first glance, but I'll bet that less than 5% of the people on BikeForums.com have the working knowledge or skill to design & build a bike like that.

Did anybody notice the derailure on the front wheel drive?

Your dead right about that 007
My guess is he is Indian? they are amazingly talented and can pick up anything and copy it using scrap materials to hand, usually improving on the design in the process. I guess its a culture of centuries of having to make do with limited materials and funds.

Just think what these guys could come up with given the right funds and facilities?!

Now where is the special ops bicycle with s.m.a.r.t. rocket launcher we gave you?

That's the Chinese landcruiser

In Beijing, mums roar around shopping centre carparks on them and drop the kiddies off to school;)
All the yuppies own them , and there's not a spot of mud ever , because they never go offroad.:D

I could think of only one plausible explanation to the fact that this bike has 2 seats.

The man is yogi. He practices those incredible twisted positions while cycling.

He may be Indian, but this is not '3rd World inginuity', the staging and lighting tower in the background are European, I'd guess the picture was taken in central western Europe, probably Germany.

What speed do you recon he can get upto ? Would he give a road bike a run for the money ? Will Lance get one for the TdeF next year ?

It looks like the second seat is to rest his elbow on while he attracts bizzare stares from cyclists.

Chain whip against the hand?

If you look closly at the persons feet, the left foot looks deformed, the front seat may be to rest his upper body on. Very interesting, given a chance I would like to try ridding it.

Looks to me like a tandem, with a recumbent front seat, for a very small rider. The presence of pedal spindles only might suggest a creature with gripping toes.

That's one hell of a creative mountain bike. It appears to allow pedaling and assist with arms.

Maybe Schwinn inspired him with the design... truly an exercise bike.
