Hi,
I was wondering what the rules are for cross races. Can I ride a mountain bike in a race?
Will I be disadvantaged? Laughed at? The latter doesn't really matter but so much but it matters a little.
Thanks.
Sean

sure you can, just no bar ends allowed.
Really Racer?
I'm sure you can race cross in the UK with Barends...interesting :)
As to full suspension bikes...I've seen several being raced....the only disadvantage I can see is their weight, but go on, give it a go :D

Its harder to shoulder a full sus frame to run over obstacles, but dont let that stop you racing.
Well you can have barends but they have to be turned around, they can't be sticking forward. But if you have them, I think they will just make you take them off.
A MTB would be an advantage on some courses, Snow, Mud, etc.
The "Cross Bikes" have the advantage on the flats (Bigger Gears)
Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to give it a go this season.

Let us know how you get on mate...it's a great place to start, and every race I've been to...people have been up for a laugh.
Cheers
Rich
