Hello,
Got a flat today. Didn't lose total air till I parked the bike in the garage. Lucky me! Anyhow, my rims on my commuter take schrader valved tubes, but since I did not have a replacement on hand, I replaced it with a presta valved tube. So I have a presta protruding out of a hole made for a schrader. Is this OK? Will I get a flat on my next commute because of this?

The situation is not ideal. While no guarantee you will flat, you're at higher risk.
At least try to put a duct tape boot around the presta stem. It will keep the tube from herniating through the schrader valve hole in the rim.

I've been using presta tubes in a schrader-drilled rim for ~4000km. No problem.
If your using high pressure 100lbs ++ you are running a greater risk than, say, a mountain bike at 50lbs. If it were me, I'd yank it back out and fit a washer or a grommet just to be safe. Your LBS should carry a proper adapter for this.
Without re-starting the presta vs. schrader discussion, I think you are better off with presta.
Ditto Erick L - about 800km so far, no incidents, 100psi.
Those inserts Louis speaks of are a good idea. Next time I'm at the LBS, I'm going to pick a couple up. They basically shim the Shrader hole down to Presta size. If nothing else, it means less slop which I take as a good thing. (less stress at the valve/tube seam)
