View Full Version : Election Day...and other things that make one ill

I recently saw an ad in my local paper for a local deli restaurant chain. (For the record, I am not a big fan of deli-food, and flatly refuse to eat the road-kill served at this particular chain. The two times I ate there I got sick. Once is a bad crap-shoot; twice is a chef whose secret ingredient is axle-grease.)

They had a coupon saying that you could take $5 off your meal on Election Day if you presented proof that you voted.

That's when it struck me: other than bringing a camera with you into the election booth, HOW THE @#$! ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO PROVE YOU VOTED?!?

Now I know that votes are bought and sold here in NY...I never heard about anyone ever getting a RECEIPT, though.

Either they would take your word for it, or more likely it was an offer that was intentionally run that would get you into the restaurant but you could never redeem. (There's another reason why I don't particularly like this restaurant chain.)

Come to think of it, I did have my camera-phone with me...but then that would mean I'd have to eat that awful food.

I'll only go so far to prove a point. :)

In CA we don't have anything with our names on it.

We have our ballot stub, and a sticker that says "I Voted" or something like that.

Wanna Bet? That stub (six of them this AM) has a unique serial number, traceable back to the sheet you signed in on.

Interesting. Thanks!
