Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Glorious. Traffic was all backed up on the freeway. People are all backed up trying to take a shortcut on the frontage road. And there I am blowing by everybody, laughing all the way home. I love that kind of commute!

:) :) :) :) :)
my ride home includes a cloverleaf leading onto a bridge. the bridge was why i started biking to this location in the first place, now i think about it. i thought i was stoical about this whole price-we-have-to-pay urban-rat-race thing, but the sheer waste and futility of that bridge just wound me right up. it's just so freaking wrong. it's like some kind of proof to some part of my mind that my city just doesn't work.
so every so often now i leave work getting well over towards 7pm. and even at that hour, about 1 time out of 5 i'll get over that overpass and discover that traffic is still backed up all through that cloverleaf, creeping forwards sometimes right to the top of the bridge no faster than i'd be able to walk. now i can just sliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide past them all in my nice wide brightly-marked-out bike section, and go about the whole steady business of getting home.
:) it always feels so satisfying. i feel like part of the solution to something, suddenly.
